This recipe for Low Carb Copycat Red Lobster Biscuits has been a very popular recipe.
I like that this is the perfect biscuit to serve at dinner, especially a holiday or special occasion of dinner.

Low Carb Copycat Red Lobster Biscuits

This recipe reminds me a lot of my Homemade Low Carb Biscuit recipe.
That biscuit recipe works for any time of the day while this biscuit is seasoned for more of a lunch or dinner time bread.

When you are on a low carb or keto diet you know how hard it can be to find a bread that is low in carbohydrates.
Certainly, the bread versus carb struggle is real. However, using a low carb flour based baking mix helps us keep both low carb and bread-happy.

People always ask me what are Red Lobster biscuits made of.

To be honest, they are simply a biscuit that has been seasoned well.
Red Lobster Biscuits are made with flour, butter, a leavening agent, and seasoning.

Technically, I once heard that the original biscuits are called "Rhonda's Cheddar Bay Biscuit".
I do not know about the validity of all this however, I do know that Red Lobster does say that their recipe is 'secret' and if we were to make the biscuits at home, we would need to add butter and cheddar cheese to their dry mix.

Old Bay Seasoning is the seasoning that makes these copycat Red Lobster Biscuits taste so unique.

Old Bay Seasoning contains what they say is an "unique blend of 18 spices and herbs." When you taste these biscuits you will agree that that copycat taste has a lot to do with the seasonings.

I should also mention that these low carb cheddar biscuits are very simple to make.
That is because there are not a lot of ingredients that are needed. Also, there are not a lot of steps that need to be taken in order to make these.

The big 'cheat' or 'hack' in making these biscuits is in the baking mix that is used in this reipe.

Carbquik is the essential baking mix that is needed for this recipe.
It is a low carbohydrate version of a standard baking mix. If you have been a frequent visitor of this site then you probably know that I like using Carbquik in a lot of my recipes.

Since I first posted this recipe, there have been some new additions to the low carb baking mix choices.

While I still use Carbquik , I am happy to see that there are all kind of low carb baking mix choices. Many of these baking mixes are also keto friendly baking mixesas well! Please make sure that you are purchasing a low carb baking mix and not just a flour however.

Here are some tips to help you make the perfect low carb biscuit.

I just mentioned that you should make sure that you are purchasing a low carb baking mix and not just a low carb flour. If you just use a flour your biscuits will not rise as there is a leavening agent added to the baking mix.

Here are some more helpful tips for you.

  1. For even more taste, brush additional melted butter on the top of these biscuits and then sprinkle with parsley. Even better, sprinkle on some garlic powder.
  2. If you do add the butter and seasonings to the top of these biscuits, allow them to set for a few moments before serving the biscuits.
  3. Vegan folks can try making their own version of this biscuit.
You can find butter alternatives online. Also, vegan cheese can be found here as can vegan baking mixes. Please read the instructions for using the one that you have selected to use.
  4. Also, you can try making this recipe gluten free by using a gluten free baking mix such as one of these.

This recipe also calls for milk.

While whole milk is preferred because it adds fat to these biscuits, you can use an alternative such a cream.
Vegan followers can use a vegan milk however, I would suggest adding a bit extra butter to keep these moist.

After years of avoiding bread, and thus carbs, I figured that I was both hungry and on vacation.
I did what most other folks would do. I ate those Red Lobster biscuits that were served to me while I waited for my healthy salad. Man, were they good too! Those vacation biscuits were totally worth the carbs. However, they did get me thinking about how I could make those biscuits without a lot of carbs involved.

I forgot about these biscuits!
This is because I had not eaten Red Lobster in years. However, over the past summer, when I was out of town with my son, we ate at a Red Lobster. As soon as we placed our order for food, a basket of delicious smelling biscuits appeared on our table. My empty stomach was struck by the amazing aroma coming from that basket.
